Agreeing to treatment

Before you receive treatment your doctor or specialist nurse should explain what they plan to do, why they are doing it and how the treatment may affect you.

If you are worried about possible side effects or any aspect of the treatment, you should talk to your doctors or nurses. You may be offered written information about the treatment or you can ask if there are any leaflets available.

Consent

Before treatment you will be asked to sign a treatment consent form. You should read the form carefully and ask any questions that you may have. Always ask for more information if you feel you need it. You are not obliged to undergo a treatment that you are unsure about.
