Link:Cryotherapy: for malignant endobronchial obstruction - information for the public
Produced by:National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE)
Cryotherapy involves using cold temperatures to destroy cancer tissue which is blocking the airways.
This information describes the guidance that NICE has issued on cryotherapy when it’s used for malignant endobronchial obstruction.
Link:Percutaneous radio frequency ablation for primary and secondary lung cancers - information for the public
Produced by:National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE)
In percutaneous radio frequency ablation a small needle electrode is inserted through the skin directly into the tumour. Radio frequency energy is passed through the needle electrode producing heat that destroys the tumour. This leaflet is about when and how percutaneous radiofrequency ablation can be used in people with primary or secondary lung cancers in the NHS in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. It explains guidance
from NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical
Excellence).
Link:Photodynamic therapy for advanced bronchial carcinoma - Information for people considering the procedure, and for the public
Produced by:National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE)
Photodynamic therapy involves giving the patient something that makes them sensitive to light. A special piece of equipment is then used to shine light directly onto the cancer tissue which activates the light sensitive substance and starts a chain of events that aims to destroy some of the cancer.
This leaflet describes the guidance that the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) has issued to the NHS on photodynamic therapy (in relation to when it’s used for advanced bronchial carcinoma).
