When substances which occur naturally in the body are used as treatments they are called biological therapies. There are different types of biological therapies. A type called monocolonal antibodies are used to treat cancers of the colon or rectum they include bevacizumab (Avastin®) cetuximab (Erbitux®) and panitumumab (Vectibix®).
