Symptoms, diagnosis and staging

The links in this section will help you to find out  about the symptoms (signs) of colorectal cancer and how it is diagnosed, staged and graded.

The 'stage' relates to the size of the cancer and if it has spread from where the cancer started in the body. The 'grade' describes the appearance of the cancer cells under a microscope and provides information on whether the cancer is likely to develop quickly. Knowing this information helps doctors plan appropriate treatment.
